Safeguard your Car with Wheel Locks
Typical lug nuts can be removed using an ordinary lug wrench. If you have spent a significant amount of money on custom tires and rims to make your car look better, you should shy away from using ordinary lug nuts as you are increasing the risk of having your wheels stolen.
You should consider investing in wheel locks. These are special lug nuts that are designed to prevent the theft of custom wheels and rims. They work just like regular nuts but they require that a key be used to unlock them before they can be removed, which protects you from thievery.
Avoid storing the lug nut key inside your glove compartment. Believe it or not, many drivers make this mistake only to find out later that thieves tend to check there first when looking for the key to use to remove the wheels. It is therefore best to keep the key on your keyring you use to hold your car keys because you will need it if you have tire trouble while on the road. If you should happen to lose the wheel lock key, you will have to contact the store you purchased the lock from so that another can be made for you. The store also should have a master key on hand they can use to unlock the nuts so you can buy a new set.
